Pune:<\/strong>\u00a0India\u2019s longest running ATP challenger, \u00a0the $50000 KPIT-MSLTA ATP Challenger, \u00a0will be played at the Mhalunge-Balewadi Tennis Complex in the city from November 17 to 24.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The tournament, \u00a0which is being played for the fifth consecutive year, \u00a0will see all the top Indian names apart from players from over 20 countries make up a strong line-up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy that our tournament has helped Indian players move up to the newer heights to build on their careers. I am happy that we have been able to achieve a fair success with our aim to promote Indian tennis players and Asian players through the event, \u201d Kishor Patil, \u00a0President of PMDTA and Chairman of the organising committee, \u00a0said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOver the last four years our winners have moved into the top 100 club with their wins here. We hope this year too this event will help the winner to move into the coveted top-100 bracket, \u201c Patil added.
\n\u201cThe KPIT MSLTA Challenger has become popular and bigger and better players are participating regularly making the event stronger every year,\u201d said Sunder Iyer, \u00a0Honorary Secretary of MSLTA .<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe cut-off this year is at a high of 270 which makes it a very strong Challenger at this level. Our Challengers consistency on the ATP calender has won us accolades from ATP too and naturally we are happy that now there are two more challengers in India\u2013one in Bengaluru and Chennai,\u201d Sunder pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe expect at least 8-10 players from India to make it to ATP draws in the main and qualifying draw which in turn will provide them an opportunity to compete at a world class level and that too on the home turf, \u201d Sunder added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The qualifying round will be played on November 17 and 18 followed by the main draw, \u00a0which begins on November 19. The semifinals and doubles final is scheduled for Friday, \u00a0November 23, \u00a0while the final will be played on \u00a0November 24.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The winner of will get $7, 200 (approx Rs 5, 25, 000) and gain 80 ATP points, \u00a0while the runners up will get $4, 053 and 55 ATP points.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
