Pune, November 20: \u00a0\u00a0Pune boy and wildcard Arjun Kadhe justified the wildcard given to him by the Organisors as he upset second seeded Ramkumar Ramanathan to enter the second round \u00a0of the main draw at \u00a0the KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger organized by MSLTA and PMDTA\u00a0 and played at the Mhalunge-Balewadi Tennis Complex here\u00a0 today.<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0 a match lasting 1 hour and 3 minutes local boy and wildcard\u00a0 \u00a0Arjun Kadhe ranked 370 upset\u00a0 off colour second seeded \u00a0\u00a0Ramkumar \u00a0Ramanathan \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>6-3, 6-2 to record his biggest win of the year and make it to the round of sixteen \u00a0. It was the first meeting for Arjun and Ramkumar at the Challenger level, as both players have played more than two dozen times as juniors and ITF events in the past.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kadhe looked solid from the start breaking the fast serving Ramkumar in the 6th<\/sup> game of the first set and in the 5th<\/sup> and 7th<\/sup> games in the second set.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In another upset of the day\u00a0 former top 100 player Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan now ranked a lowly 186 and semifinalist at Bengaluru last week upset fifth seeded \u00a0Marc Polmans\u00a0 of Australia\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6-2, 6-4\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another wildcard\u00a0 21 year old Sasi Kumar Mukund \u00a0also justified the wildcard allotted to him as he as took out his senior Saketh Myneni \u00a06-4, 7-6(1)\u00a0 in a 1 hour 28 minute thriller\u00a0 in\u00a0 much awaited match ,\u00a0 Mukund who was scheduled to play\u00a0 Saketh in the quarterfinals last week in Bengaluru has to pull out\u00a0 in warm ups itself due to a back spasm.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Winner of the Bengaluru Challenger \u00a0\u00a0and former finalist here Prajnesh Gunneswaran started the event where he finished last week playing fluent tennis to stop Tsung-Hua Yang of Chinese Taipei\u00a0 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 31 minutes\u00a0 and become the third Indian player to make the second round.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
